Grants awarded by BHHCT

The Trust has so far given £4.2 million in grants for repair and restoration of churches and chapels in Beds and Herts. 

In 2025-26, £180,100 was awarded to 22 churches.

St Mary's Church, Stevington

The Trust awarded £6,000 to St Mary's, Stevington for repairs to the Church Room which is a community hub housing the community shop as well as hosting toddler group, coffee shop, a drop-in centre, music workshops, WI and IT group.

The church itself dates from 11th century and features many very fine medieval bench end carvings such as this one of a man drinking. The story goes that he is drinking the church ale!
