Supporting and celebrating our churches and chapels

The Trust helps to fund the repair of churches and chapels in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and part of Barnet and champions their value and enjoyment.

We give grants for conservation, restoration and development, and offer tours, talks and other events.

Thank you Bikers 'n Hikers

Our annual Bike 'n Hike took place on Saturday 9 September 2023 in sweltering sunshine, but despite the heat, people still hiked and cycled the length and breadth of Beds and Herts to help save our beautiful church buildings.

Many have said how how much they appreciate the warm welcome they receive when visiting the churches. We can't thank our valiant bikers and hikers enough, not to mention sponsors and everyone else who helped make this event such a success.

The final fundraising total will be announced soon - we know we have exceeded 2022's total which is wonderful.

Bishop of St Albans gardens to open this summer for BHHCT

We are very grateful to the Bishop of St Albans - our Patron, for his continued and generous support. The Bishop opened his two acre garden last year on several Sundays and hosted visits to see the fantastic array of snowdrops - all in aid of the Trust.

Bishop Alan - who is a keen gardener, will be opening his garden every Sunday from 9 June - 11 August with all proceeds to BHHCT. The garden is an oasis in the centre of St Albans with beautiful vistas and a beautiful succession of plants and flowers of interest throughout the year.  It's well worth a visit.

Entrance : £5 per adult; dogs on leads welcome. There will be plants for sale on some weekends. Please wear suitable footwear and not there is no parking in the lane.

Address: Abbey Gate House, Abbey Mill Lane, St Albans AL3 4HS
